Instant noodles are a popular food item in the world. It offers a quick and convenient way of satisfying hunger, especially when you're stuck in a busy schedule. 1. High MSG content
Instant noodles are high in MSG or monosodium glutamate. This doubles your risk of developing hypertension, heart disease and chronic kidney disease. Some people, on the other hand, are sensitive to MSG. They get headaches, chest pain or a burning sensation after consuming instant noodles. MSG has also been associated with other diseases including cancer.
2. High sodium content
Instant noodles are normally high in sodium, increasing your risk of developing hypertension as well as kidney stones and other kidney problems. Instant cup noodles usually contain more than 800 mg of sodium, which is about half of the recommended dietary allowance for sodium. The US recommended dietary allowance for sodium for healthy adults is 2,400 mg per day.

Instant noodles use propylene glycol, an antifreeze as humectants which prevent noodles from drying out. It is absorbed by the body and accumulates in the liver, kidneys and the heart, which in time can cause damage.
4. Impedes the body's ability to absorb important nutrients
Another health risks posed by instant noodles is that it impedes the body's ability to absorb nutrients from other foods such as those from fruits and vegetables. Instant noodles have a negative effect on your digestion even several hours after ingesting it. Hence, if you are eating instant noodles and then you decide to eat a fruit or a vegetable dish, your body may not fully absorb the nutrients that are found in those foods.
5. Contains cancer-causing ingredients
Aside from the chemical additives, instant noodles are also packaged in plasticizers and dioxin, which are cancer-causing substances that may leak in the presence of hot water.
