What you probably thought as a typical bruise can actually be more serious than that. It could be a blood clot, which, if not cured immediately, can be fatal.

Here are some of the signs of blood clot that you should never ever ignore:

Blood Clot in Your Leg

The problem with having a blood clot in the leg is that it usually doesn’t have symptoms. Plus, some symptoms appear to be as normal as any other condition. However, if you suspect you have a blood clot in the leg, the first place to look at is your lower leg where this problem generally occurs. Additionally, check for the following signs:

ü  Swelling

ü  Warm sensation

ü  Pain

ü  Bruise

ü  Tenderness

Stretch your toes upward and if there is pain, you most likely have a blood clot in the leg. Blood clot in the leg can become deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which occurs in any of the deep veins in the body. However, this can form in the arm, but mostly in the legs.



Blood Clot in Your Abdomen

If you’re experiencing the following, it could mean you have a blood clot in your abdomen:

ü  Intense abdominal pain

ü  Vomiting

ü  Diarrhea

As you can see, the symptoms can easily be mistaken for food poisoning or even a stomach virus. It is always best to talk to a doctor.

Blood Clot in Your Lungs

When blood clot has affected your lungs, this is known as a pulmonary embolism. This is a dangerous problem that can have the following symptoms:

ü  Sudden shortness of breath

ü  Coughing up blood

ü  Heart palpitations

Blood Clot in the Brain

Blood clot that has formed in the brain can cause you to have vision problems. You may also find it difficult to speak, along with a sudden and very severe headache – one you can say is the worst kind of headache you’ve ever had.

This isn’t very common, but it could happen to anyone. The symptoms are often the following:

ü  Shortness of breath

ü  Lightheadedness

Blood clot generally affects the older people, particluarly those who are older than 65, especially those overweight -- but it can happen to anyone. Make sure you maintain a healthy weight and always report to your doctor if some bruising and pain occur most especially if your family has a history of blood clot.
